LIVE WEBINAR: Common Cognitive Errors Amongst Trauma Survivors Join us on June 11, 2019 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm ET when Dr. Ross will discuss common cognitive errors among trauma survivors. These are most prominent in survivors of severe, chronic childhood trauma but also can occur in people who have experienced a single traumatic event in adulthood. These cognitive errors are understandable and arise from normal childhood thought processes: within Dr. Ross’ Trauma Model Therapy, these different forms of self-blame are based on the locus of control shift, which he will explain. Examples of strategies and interventions for these errors in thinking will be described.

Understanding and Treating Complex Trauma: Level 1

Trauma Education Essentials is pleased to present this 1-day interactive workshop titled 'Understanding and Treating Complex Trauma: Level 1' for health professionals and trainees in psychology, social work, psychotherapy, nursing, counselling, psychiatry, and medicine, as well as other allied health areas.

Gain foundational knowledge, insights and skills for working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma. We will first explore the importance of a sequenced, yet flexible, approach to treatment that is grounded in strategies related to enhancing safety and stabilization. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the therapeutic relationship and how trauma-informed principles can guide collaborative interventions. Common issues that arise in the therapeutic relationship, including traumatic reenactments, will be explored, and a discussion on how to recognize vicarious traumatization and approaches to minimize risk will follow. The facilitators will also explain how interventions, rooted in an understanding of the neurobiology of trauma, can be personalized to your clients specific needs.

A wide range of skills will be demonstrated by the facilitators so that attendees can leave feeling confidant in how to apply the tools they have learned. The content presented in this workshop covers best practices in complex trauma assessment and treatment. The principles and approaches taught in this workshop are utilized on a daily basis when working with our own diverse client population. Space will be limited as the workshop will be highly interactive, and skills-focused.
